Managing Low BP according to ayurveda

Everybody is worried about high blood pressure now-a-days. Even so many articles are written on high BP, the causes and the adverse effects are defined as it can cause heart diseases, stroke etc. But low blood pressure is also very harmful to the body. It can cause dizziness, headache, stiff neck, shortness of breathing, irregular heartbeats also in some cases loss of hair and blurring of vision. When BP falls down to 115/75 it can be considered as low BP according to one’s tendency. So long term low BP can harm biological clock of the body.
In summer season, low BP is occurred due to excessive perspiration & loss of sodium in body.
Other Causes of Low BP:
-         Due to hormonal changes
-         Widening of blood vessels
-         Anaemia
-         Heart & endocrinal problems
-         others
According to ayurveda few drugs are there to maintain the blood pressure of the body. One of them is agnitundi vati. Its main ingredient is nux vomica. It contains alkaloids-strychnine and brucine. It increases flow of gastic juice and also movements of respiratory system. But its main function is on 10th (vagus) nerve. It increases blood pressure and pulse by maintaining parasympathetic nervous system.
Another is yastimadhu ghan vati. It contains glycyrrhizic acid & glycyrrhetinic acid. Both of them act on increasing blood pressure in combination. It also increases mucus & decreases acid secretions.
Above given medicines are also used in post prandial hypotension which is caused after 30-75 minutes of meals because of blood diverted to intestines.
All these medications are to be taken under ayurvedic physicians because excess use of both these drugs can cause hypertension. Ayurvedic medicines vary from person to person according to their tendency (prakriti).
There are some points to add to your life style:
1.     Do not stop total sugar even if you are diet conscious because anti diabetic substances has much more adverse effects then sugar.
2.      Have lemon water with sugar and salt twice a day, it is the best remedy for rising BP instantly
3.     Exercise up to your physical capacities not beyond that.
4.     Use cow ghee in meals instead of other ghee.
5.     Avoid sun strokes.
